How to speak Texan…?

So I came across this little book that’s titled “How to Speak Texan”.  Having lived in the lovely town of Austin, TX for the past 10+ years, obviously that intrigues me.  As I flip through the pages, one of the inserts goes:

“You don’t want people to call you – Ugly as a mud fence;  you want people to call you – Cute as a possum”

…. HUH?

I remember my first encounter with a possum, and in my opinion, it’s not cute at all.  They look like raggity gigantor rats!  Don’t believe me?  Look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Possum.jpg

People always say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.  I think in this case the beholder is mama possum…
